South Africa is celebrating 350 years of making wine!
The first owner of Vrede en Lust, Jacques de Savoye, contributed greatly to the development of the Drakenstein wine valley. The De Savoye family arrived in the Cape 321 years ago and was granted Vrede en Lust by the then governor, Simon Van Der Stel, shortly after arrival. We would like to invite you to the Vrede en Lust Savoye Day to celebrate over 350 years of great South African wines.
Passionate for more than 300 years!
Join us for the Celebration of the Vine and press the newly harvested grapes the old-fashioned bare-footed way! Enjoy a food and wine synergy with a special Experience Tasting (tasting of 8 wines with food paired to each wine), whilst savouring the natural beauty of Vrede en Lust, complimented by live music. Participate in a Petanque competition. A jumping castle will be available for the kids.
