This is a great measure of the wine loving public’s view of wines vs that of the wine press or competition judges. They are the ones who buy the wines after all! Last year we had our Sauvignon Blanc 2008 and Reserve 2004 in the respective Top Tens.
Vrede en Lust’s Elgin Sauvignon Blanc 2009 and our Viognier 2009 both made it to the Top Ten whites wines, whilst the Vrede en Lust Boet Erasmus 2007 and the Malbec 2008 made the Top Ten Red Wines! I have never seen one winery with 2 whites and 2 reds in the respective Top Tens, so we are very excited and pleased with the results.
It is a testament to the depth of our current wine range as well as the team who so passionately represents Vrede en Lust at the wine shows and at our CellarDoor. Thanks to the team and all of those who voted for us! The bench is deep
The Malbec 2008 is now sold out, but we are getting ready to release the new Mocholate Malbec 2009 at Franschhoek Uncorked Festival on the 10th of October. Judging by the public’s love for the coffee pinotage wines, I have high hopes for the Mocholate Malbec which will be on show at WineX Johannesburg later this month. Its heady combination of mocha, chocolate and the very pure red and black Malbec berry flavours, should prove to be very popular and unique.
All of the wines are currently part of the Carats for Carbon promotion where one lucky customer will win a beautiful 1.6 carat diamond.
