The results have been released for this year’s Best of Show wines at WineX Cape Town. These are important indicators, as they are the wines voted Best by the attendees of WineX. They are the good folks who buy wines and most important in our book.
Our new Viognier 2011 was voted #3 white wine of the show and our Elgin Sauvignon Blanc 2010 also finished in the Top 10 Whites. The Boet Erasmus 2008 Bordeaux style blend was voted one of the top 10 red wines of the show!
With 3 wines in the two Top 10’s, we did very well, with Hamilton Russel, Meerlust and Springfield fielding 2 wines each. In good company for sure.
We are very happy with the ratings which has been quite consistent for the past 3 shows! Both the Vrede en Lust Viognier and Boet Erasmus wines have been in their respective WineX Cape Town Top-10’s in 2009, 2010 and now in 2011.
I hope to see the organisers add a Rosè category at some stage in the future, as the Jess 2011 was our top seller at WineX and so popular with Rosè lovers. Time to think more seriously about Rosè Michael? As a smaller category even a Top 5 would be a good start. Maybe Top 5 bubblies too?
Well done and thanks to Susan and Ansone for such consistency from our winery. Hats off to Anneke and her team for showing our wines so passionately! The shows are hard work, but one of the most important things we do.
We will have a double stand at WineX Johannesburg in late October, where we will show a few new wines: The new Mocholate Malbec and a new, really special, white blend from our Elgin vineyards!
