Fairlady Bride, Issue 10, Winter 2007

I'm getting married at the end of the year, but we've started planning already so we get the best of everything. I want a winelands wedding. Which one gets your vote?
Crystal Matthews, FAIRLADY BRIDE production editor, responds: The Western Cape undoubtedly is the wedding and winelands hub of the country, so there are loads of fantastic places combining the two. During the honeymoon a few months ago, we spent a couple of nights at Vrede en Lust (021- 874 1611 or http://www.vnl.co.za).
I discovered that it is a wonderful wedding destination. The historic cellar can be used as a chapel or as the reception or dance area. The doors open onto lawns that can be used for cocktails or for the ceremony - with an amazing view of the vineyards and mountains. There's room for 150 guests. The manor house sleeps 10 - perfect for the wedding party and for the out-of-town guests, there are two cottages. The restaurant, Cotage Fromage, is within walking distance and in rose season is breathtakingly beautiful. I'd really recommend that you check it out.
