Vrede en Lust's Barbere 2004 is brilliant for summer - a light wine served chilled. Other merits include minimal sugar (far less chance of the headache) and a reasonable price tag (under R35 per 750ml).
Look out for the four-pack (R75 - R90) of Vrede en Lust wines in 350ml bottles: perfect for dinner-for-one or trying a new wine without buying a full bottle. Krone Borealis MCC is a good bubbly for detox month as it has no added preservatives.
