Where: Alongside a back road at Vrede and Lust in the Franschhoek Valley.
What: Being out of the city for a few days makes you appreciate the clear, pollution-free sky, fresh air and beautiful natural scenery of a place like Franschhoek. While taking a walk around the wine estate during the holidays I noticed a rather crudely painted 'Keep Clean' sign on a bin, but it had an immediate impact on me. It seemed to be a statement that might apply to the bigger picture, what with the surrounding mountains and vineyards that had really taken my breathe away. It implies that it is not just liter that we should be mindful of, but the whole environment. Can we do it?
