The Mopani Trees for Life Foundation

The Mopani trees for Life Foundation is a Non Profit Organization headed up by 8 Trustees including three tree experts and one Education expert

The Foundation owns 10% of Mopani Wines and receives 5% of Mopani Wines net sales.
It is focused on:
* Planting Trees!
* The right trees in the right places
* Education about why trees need to be planted and how to care for them

We have planted over 700 trees on Vrede en Lust in the past year and in June 2009 purchased the next 2,000 trees. While our goal is to plant a tree for every 10 cases of Mopani wine we sell, we can not plant trees all year long!

We have to plant the right trees in the right place at the right time. That means we can ideally plant trees in the Western Cape during winter or early spring. The winters are too cold and frosty in Gauteng and the Freestate, so there we have to aim for spring.

Goal is to become self sustaining in time by:
* Promote the planting and "gifting" of trees
* Selling Carbon Credits for trees planted
* Use the Internet, include the Web 2.0 to grow massive presence
