Classic 2004
Rated 4 stars in the 2008 Platter Guide
There is a great deal of care that goes into every bottle of Vrede en Lust wine starting from the soil.
The winery has undergone ISO14000 certification and the farm has not used any insecticides on the farm for the past 5 years while limiting the application of weed killers.

Our winemaking philosophy is simple - to make wines of the highest quality, honest wines that reflect their terroir with minimal intervention in the cellar. We have 3 vineyards planted to cultivars most suited to the respective soils, slopes and climates. The core of our white grapes come from the cool climate Elgin region while the bulk of our red grapes are sourced from our warmer Simonsberg-Paarl vineyards.
Susan Wessels, our winemaker, takes tremendous pride in her range of handcrafted wines. Key goals in the winery include elegance and balance in all of our wines.
Our highest score to date has been the 90 points awarded by Wine Enthusiast for the Vrede en Lust Reserve 2003. The Reserve 2003 was made from only the 2nd vintage produced in the modern winery and we believe we will do much better going forward!
We invite you to be the judge and visit us for a free tasting in one of the most beautiful cellar door environments anywhere.
