This wine forms part of our limited release production.
If there is a particular Cultivar that stands out in a vintage or a small experimental production that the winemaker feels exceptional enough to bottle on its own and turn into something special, it is done. This is how the Barrique came to be.
Produced from cellar-master selection of our Vrede en Lust Sauvignon blanc grapes, the Barrique is a barrel fermented and matured Sauvignon Blanc with a dash of Viognier.
Total production only 1200 bottles Available in 750ml.
Wine of Origin
Western Cape
Style & Tasting Notes
The Barrique beautifully shows the integration of oak into the Sauvignon Blanc flavours. Full bodied and abundant green fig, asparagus and fruit flavours tingle the palate.
Wine Making Notes
The grapes were harvested in February and the wine was settled and underwent full fermentation in oak. Some of the 2nd press juice was also fermented and racked to barrel. The wine was left in barrel on lees for 6 months. Thereafter it had a light isinglass fining prior to bottling.

"I think it is a great error to consider a heavy tax on wines as a tax on luxury. On the contrary, it is a tax on the health of our citizens."
