Barrique 2009

If there is a particular Cultivar that stands out in a vintage or a small experimental production that the winemaker feels exceptional enough to bottle on its own and turn into something special, it is done. This is how the Barrique came to be.

Produced from a selection of Semillon and Sauvignon blanc from our farm in Elgin, Casey's Ridge.

Total production only 1250 bottles Available in 750ml.

Wine of Origin
Elgin

Style & Tasting Notes
This blend shows the beautiful aromas of Semillon ? bell peppers, quince and integrated oak aromas. The cooler climate Sauvignon Blanc shows typical aromas with flint notes and minerality. Both wines were fermented in oak and matured for 8 months on the lees before bottling. The wine was bottled under Stelvin closure to ensure optimal freshness

Wine Making Notes
The grapes were harvested in March and the wine was settled and underwent full fermentation in oak. Some of the 2nd press juice was also fermented and racked to barrel. The wine was left in barrel on lees for 8 months prior to bottling.
