Simond 2005
WINE magazine's Best Value Wine Guide 2009

The Classic is a 'Bordeaux style blend' and is made from vineyards from our Vrede en Lust farm on the slopes of the Simonsberg.
The result is an elegant, food friendly, noble blend that is accessible upon release and with the capacity to improve and mature over the years.
This wine was originally prepared as our Reserve '05.
Available in 750ml under cork and 375ml under Stelvin.
Style & Tasting Notes
Complex nose of chocolate, blackcurrant and raspberry. Firm but elegant structure on the palate and a long finish.
Wine Making Notes
The grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with extended maceration. Following malolactic fermentation the wine was carefully blended and matured for 14 to 16 months in 225L French oak barrels (25% new). Minimum fining followed and was bottled without any filtration. The wine was bottle matured for a further 25 months before release.
