Karien 2007
Rated 4 stars in the 2008 Platter Guide

Our appealing maiden vintage of Shiraz is an elegant wine with a supple fruit and spice balance. The wine is made from selected vineyards on Vrede en Lust and is our single varietal red wine.
The grapes are picked by hand and the selected blocks are fermented separately and only at maturation are they blended.
Available in under Stelvin, 750ml & 375ml.

A Rhone style Shiraz showing raspberry and black berry flavours with hints of spice and elegant oak.
Wine Making Notes
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in thanks and in barrels.
The Shiraz is taken to barrel and after the first racking the final blend is made up and further matured in a barrel. This vintage spent 10 months in oak, 15% American. Bottled under srewcap and the wine is released 7 months after bottling.
