Casey’s Ridge Elgin Viognier 2010
This is the maiden release of this wine from our Elgin vineyards. The Casey’s Ridge Viognier showcases the cooler climate character of Viognier.
The grapes for this wine were picked at optimal ripeness, ensuring the typical fruit and floral aromas.
We produce Viognier from both the warmer Simonsberg–Paarl, as well as from the cooler Elgin regions.
Susan decided to bottle the two wines as unique wines from each region – highlighting the impact of vineyard site and terroir.

Tasting Notes
As expressive as Viognier can be, with typical floral and fruit notes of litchi, peaches and apricot. Hints of Cinnamon Spice and Aniseed are also notable. The wine has an off dry level of residual sugar to compliment the body. The wine was partially oaked resulting in a great balance between fruit & oak.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were crushed late in March and the juice was settled in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took place in stainless steel. Post fermentation, a portion of the wine was aged on the lees in barrel for a few months while the rest was kept on lees in stainless steel tanks.
