Caseys Ridge Pinot Grigio 2010
Our Pinot Grigio, also known as the blue-gray grape – is from our cool climate vineyards in Elgin. Also known as Pinot Gris in the Alsace, this cultivar is very popular in Italy and is known for its delicately fragrant nose. A tangy white wine for early drinking, but the cool climate fruit will support ageing as well. This is the maiden vintage of the Vrede en Lust Pinot Grigio and one of the few single varietal wines of this grape available in South Africa!
Tasting Notes
A light and crisp white wine showing aromas of apple, pear with some delicate floral notes. The zestiness of this wine will lend to being enjoyed on its own and with a variety of different dishes.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were crushed in the middle of February. Fermented in stainless steel tanks. Careful attention was paid to the handling of the wine, as the skin colouring often leads to pink/grey. Only the free run juice was fermented. The wine was aged on lees for a few months before bottling in July.
