Casey’s Ridge Elgin Viognier 2010
This is the maiden release of this wine from our Elgin vineyards. The Casey’s Ridge Viognier showcases the cooler climate character of Viognier.
The grapes for this wine were picked at optimal ripeness, ensuring the typical fruit and floral aromas.
We produce Viognier from both the warmer Simonsberg–Paarl, as well as from the cooler Elgin regions.
Susan decided to bottle the two wines as unique wines from each region – highlighting the impact of vineyard site and terroir.

Classic 2004
The Classic is a ‘Bordeaux style blend’ showing finesse and fruit. The wine is matured for at least 12 months in 225 liter French oak barrels, followed by 18 months in the bottle ahead of release. The result is an elegant, food friendly, noble blend that is accessible upon release and with the capacity to improve and mature over the years.
Reserve 2004
A structured, elegant and complex of our wines, this ‘Bordeaux blend’ possesses finesse and ageing potential. Created for the more serious wine connoisseur, our Reserve range aims to reflect our Simonsberg-Paarl terroir using grapes from selected vineyard blocks. Complex fruit and wood balance comes through on the nose and palate. This is the best wine produced from Vrede en Lust’s 2004 harvest.
