INTRODUCING VREDE EN LUST

NAPOLEONSBERG 2019

The Napoleonsberg Cabernet Sauvignon is made in honour of the Simonsberg, located in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Napoleonsberg is the previous name for this mountain referenced in Vrede en Lust’s history which dates back to 1688.

This wine is the epitome of Vrede en Lust estate, our offering which is grown, vinified and bottled on site. Crafted only in the best vintages, this is a small batch wine which respects every terroir factor of its environment.

Each bottle is individually numbered to highlight the limited production, the wine is encased in a luxury gift box, perfect to showcase in your cellar collection.

Terroir

The greatest of wines can only be made with grapes of the highest quality, and in vintages with excellent harvest conditions.

Situated in the foothills of this 1400m high mountain, our vineyards are sheltered from harsh factors to bring consistency from harvest to harvest.

These specific Cabernet Sauvignon vines total 4 hectares, made up
of different grape clones and planted in multiple ancient soil types
to promote complexity.

Winemaking

The Napoleonsberg Cabernet Sauvignon embodies the skill, passion and dedication of Karlin Nel, our cellar master. Every vineyard block is hand-harvested, each grape is destemmed, inspected and quality sorted prior to fermentation. The blocks are then vinified separately before the final assemblage where only the best is selected.

The resulting wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, allowing the flavours to develop and mature into a truly exceptional wine.

Tasting Notes

A light violet fragrance permeates this wine, leading to succulent red and blue berried fruit. The flavours are restrained and classically Cabernet Sauvignon, ripe blackcurrant red plums and hedgerow fruit. Plush
and rewarding.
